When it comes to advertising I've just about done it all. Print, digital, broadcast, even e-learning. Outside of advertising, my experience is equally diverse. I've worked as a teacher, a sailor, a real estate agent, a filmmaker, and an author. All of which has given me the ability to connect with completely different audiences from Tribeca to China.
I'm the proud owner of five tuxedoes, three bicycles, three ukuleles, two didgeridoos and one adorable shih-tzu. I've lost count of the hats.
Freelance Senior Copywriter/ACD – ’09 to Present
For the past few years, I’ve worked for a variety of clients, including Mercedes- Benz, Verizon, P&G, Dish Network, Chase, FairPoint Communications, CenturyLink, New Directions Behavioral Health, Mercy Hospital Group, Panasonic, and Whole Foods Market.
Projects have covered a range of print, direct mail, broadcast, websites and web banners, blogging, social media, and instructional design (E-learning). Most recently, I was the creative lead on P&G at GlobalWorks and developed online video for Dish Network.
McCann Erickson – Senior Copywriter –’06 to ‘09
My main client was Verizon Wireless, but I have also worked on assignments for Women’s Professional Soccer, RIM/BlackBerry, Major League Baseball and Applebee’s. Thanks to my ability to juggle many assignments at once, I was frequently called upon to handle any emergencies that came up, as well as lend a helping hand to other writers when needed.
Freelance Copywriter and Other Overlapping Positions – ‘02 to ‘05
Along with a number of freelance jobs including work for Panasonic, DeLonghi and RJ Reynold’s, I decided to take full advantage of the recession by trying a few other fields. The two biggest “other jobs” were working for the New York Department of Education as a Substitute Teacher, and as a Real Estate Agent. Both positions required me to think on my toes, and learn more organizational skills than anything I’d done before.
Greco Ethridge Group – Copywriter – ‘00 to ‘02
GEG was a small and well respected high-tech B2B agency. Though most of my clients were companies you’ve probably never heard of, I relished the challenge of making print and collateral for such a focused, vertical market.
Freelance Copywriter – ‘97 to ‘00
A variety of agencies including: TBWA Chiat/Day/S.F., TDA Advertising/Boulder, DiMassimo/NY, Leo Burnett/Chicago, Draft Worldwide/NY, Blue Marble ACG/NY, Eisnor Interactive/NY, and Crispin Porter Bogusky/Miami.
Foote Cone Belding/NY – ’96 to ’97 – Junior Copywriter
My first “real” job in advertising. At FCB I produced Print, TV, and Radio for a variety of clients including AT&T, Tropicana, Fila, Nabisco, and Campbell’s.
Mad Dogs and Englishmen – Spring/Summer ’96 – Intern/Freelance Copywriter
Fresh out of the Miami Ad School I was given a rare opportunity to work with this small but well known shop. Mad Dogs helped me learn to look for the unexpected when creating ads, and always push the boundaries knowing you can always step back later.
Film/TV Production Assistant – ’92 to ’94
Though I got a lot out of being a PA, the one that seems most relevant today is that was my first exposure to the term “Hurry up and wait.” Some things never change.
